SRC is governed by a capable leadership team that currently consists of an Executive Director,
Ms. Hiewet Senghor, and a 17 member Board of Directors. Ms. Senghor’s extensive experience in the social justice field coupled with her strong organizational skills and community relationships enables her to strategically manage SRC during this period of growth and transition. As a development and management professional, Ms. Senghor has successfully implemented both programs and fund raising campaigns for the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (N.A.A.C.P.), the Children’s Defense Fund, the YWCA, and the League of Women Voters.
SRC’s Board of Directors consists of community, business, civil rights, academic and legal professionals. Board President, Charles S. Johnson III, is an attorney and community advocate. He practices at Holland and Knight, LLP located in Atlanta, GA. His areas of focus include commercial litigation, antitrust litigation and counseling, and administrative and regulatory representation. Mr. Johnson’s passion for equality and humane treatment for all people spurred his SRC involvement over a decade years ago. As Board President, Mr. Johnson’s commitment to SRC’s role in fighting for racial justice led him to initiate a 19 month reorganization resulting in a complete institutional assessment and comprehensive strategic plan (completed May 2006).
Together, the SRC Board and leadership adopted the five year Strategic Plan (2007-2012). Both Ms. Senghor and Mr. Johnson remain committed to its full implementation.
